A great home workout starts before the first rep — with the floor beneath you. A quality mat protects joints, deadens sound for downstairs neighbours, and marks out a dedicated training zone even in a studio flat.
Look for thickness between 6 and 10 millimetres: enough cushion for knees and elbows, firm enough for balance work. Textured, non-slip surfaces on both sides stop the mat travelling across wooden floors during fast circuits.
Care is simple. Wipe it down after every session, roll it loosely with the top side out, and keep it out of direct sun. Treated well, a good mat survives years of daily burpees, stretches, and cool-downs.
